Crazy about paper

My Blog

A place where I share my process, my work, ideas and have conversations with like minded souls.

As I started this post I had a very specific intention in mind. …

How are you all doing? Crazy times right? Here in Montreal, Canada, we are slowly recovering from COVID-19. Retail stores are opening, daycares too, and now we are talking about opening restaurants if we dare to share a meal in a very populated setting.

As I started this post I had a very specific intention in mind.

I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to share with you. But as soon as I wrote those first few lines, I got caught up in my own thoughts about all of this.

And then I was curious. What did you learn about yourself, your family, your friends, your behavior, your attitude during this isolation?

Did you come to appreciate things more? Did you spend more time with your family? Did you enjoy this “rest” from everyday life?

I’m know I’m still processing everything that has just happened. I know I have been crazy creative, but was it due to COVID or was it just a good spell of creativity? Did I enjoy the quiet time, the isolation, the surreal feeling as days turned into nights and then days again?

Thinking of it now, I’m not sure I took advantage of the time enough to think through all of these questions yet. Did you?

It could have been a time for quiet contemplation yet I felt I was in “waiting mode” the whole time. Waiting for when it would be over, waiting for when things would get better, waiting for less people to be affected by all of this.

I think it will take some time for all of us to process what has just happened. Never has there ever been anything like this. Never could we have imagined such a GLOBAL event. Something that happened to ALL of us, all across the globe. I can’t wrap my head around it yet.

We will all process it eventually, in our own ways. I think the world will change because of this, and I hope our perspectives will too, in either big or small ways.

As we process all of this I hope you continue to be creative. I hope you have taken the time that you now have to do all of the creative projects you always wanted to try.

During this time I went back to doing things I loved. Creating Paper Kits was one of them. The first batch I put up sold out quickly and so I have restocked.

I know, for me, to be creative it just takes a small thing. A patterned paper I love, the texture of a fabric, the reflection of light on a blue bead. That is the point of these kits. You can use them any way you wish. My hope is that you open them, and feel inspired by all the individually wrapped glassine envelopes filled with stickers or handmade tags, the clear envelopes bursting with metal findings, or the handmade bookmarks included in every kit.

Yes this is a small offering in light of everything that is going on, but if it brings you a moment of quiet, a moment of peace, a moment of creativity during all of this it is worthwhile.

Stay safe to stay healthy and appreciate all small things now.
