Free mini class - create a collage vignette!
Over the years my most popular pieces have been the mixed media collages I create on wood birch panels. It is this series of work, more than anything else, that actually made people take notice of what I was doing.
I share how I create the above pieces in my online art classes. In the online classes I cover the materials I use to create the pieces and then take you step by step on how I make them so that you can make them yourself. All of my online classes are available right here.
As with everything I create, the girls and houses lead to other things, and I started creating these mini vignettes on the same birch panels. Who knows what makes you go there right?
Recently I was inspired to again create one of these mini vignettes. This one was inspired by two things: a floral scrapbook paper that I knew would make a great background, and a mini watercolor abstract that I had made in my watercolor journal. The two may not seem like a natural fit, or a natural color combination - but I knew it worked and I knew I had to do something with these two pieces.
What resulted was the birch panel collage below:
Before I started on this piece I thought about how many of you asked for an online class on how I create these pieces but because each and every one is different and inspired by different items I always struggled with how I would create a class on this.
So I did the next best thing - I recorded every step of making the piece above and turned it into a video which you can watch in less than 20 minutes.
Although the video is less than 20 minutes long I think it is enough to give you a good idea of the process so that you can create your very own. And, the video is free - it’s my gift to you for following me for so long.
