It’s the little things that make us happy that are really important right now…

The days go on and on and this day turns into the next and the next, until we don’t know what day it is anymore. I get it. I feel the same way.

To those of you who have reached out and left comments recently, - OMG - thank you so much. I don’t feel like I am talking into a void anymore.

I have been working hard as I talked about here, and unfortunately respite doesn’t seem to be anywhere near. It’s about hope these days right. Hope that we can plan for the future, hope that there is something beyond being isolated from the rest of the world.

I certainly am not in a position to make any promises about the future. No one can. But I can offer up some promises about making things a little easier to bear. I think little things that make us happy are really important right now. I think we are all saving money now whether you want to or not because where are we going to go - what are we going to do? Right?

So I have taken to indulging myself. I think I deserve it now. I looked at my wish list and made decisions about what I thought I could indulge in now. I am not talking about taking out a second mortgage here, I’m just talking about things that I previously thought were frivolous and I thought, you know what - this is going to make me happy. - I am getting this.

And that is really what my shop has always been about - small indulgences. Things that make you smile when you see them on your shelf in the morning, or things that make you smile when you want to jot down a few notes during the day.

How many times have I said, but what will I do with this piece? And now I just say, I’ll find a place for it, I just love it.

There is a theory that if you just buy things you love, it all comes together in your home. I live by this principle. There is nothing in my home, and I am talking pieces, large or small, that I purchased that I love, that has not fit in just perfectly.

You should feel the same way too. If you love it, you will find a place for it.
