Trends 2021 Update - what I did really purchase in 2021?

So in my last post here I talked about trends, and what I was “into” in 2021. I also mentioned that out of all those things I was crushing on, there was only 1 of all those items, that was actually “in stock” - from anywhere! (Hard to believe but read the previous post and you will see why).

And, drumroll please… what did I purchase from that total list of crushes. Well I did what I said I would do.

I purchased the one (and only) item from my crush list that was actually “in stock” - and if you saw that post you already know that item was - (another drum roll please) the leaning bookshelf.

And I could not be happier with the results.

So, in the spirit of following through, I wanted to show you it here, in my home and explain why I am super happy with it!

So first, lots of photos.

So here it is - a simple leaning bookshelf. But let me tell you filling a bookcase is really an art. And, at the risk of sounding pretentious, I have to say, it is one of the things I am particularly good at.

One of the things you need to be aware of is “visual balance” on a single shelf and then on the overall bookshelf.

You can’t just have stacks of books - you need to make it pleasing to the eye + adding other details helps to achieve that “visual balance”.

This bookshelf gave me a chance to display all my favorite books, in an easily accessible space so I could look through them easily, when I was looking for inspiration.

The added bonus was that I waited so long to do this because I thought that adding this bookshelf would make my space feel too cluttered.

As it turned out this bookshelf, which is open on the back (not too hide my wood plank wall) and just large enough to hold my favorite books, made this space such a cosy nook, that I actually sit in my “chaise longe” now to feed myself with inspiration from all of my favorite books.

So tell me, what have you purchased for yourself - post Christmas that you really wanted. You can tell me all about it by leaving a comment right below.
